Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and nail clipping tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle dogs with care and confidence, ensuring their safety through proper animal restraint techniques and gentle handling
- Assess each pet’s coat condition and skin health, recommending appropriate grooming treatments or veterinary referrals when necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized grooming station by sanitizing tools and work areas regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about grooming preferences, special needs, and aftercare instructions
- Assist with pet handling during appointments, ensuring comfort and reducing stress through positive reinforcement techniques
- Support team members with kennel duties or additional animal handling tasks as needed to promote overall animal well-being
Experience
- Proven experience as a professional dog groomer with a strong portfolio of grooming styles and techniques
- Knowledge of dog training methods and veterinary experience is highly desirable to better understand animal behavior and health considerations
- Familiarity with animal handling, restraint techniques, and pet care best practices across various breeds and sizes
- Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is advantageous for recognizing health issues during grooming sessions
- Experience working in kennel environments or with heavy lifting tasks related to pet care equipment or supplies
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely in high-pressure situations while maintaining a lively, positive attitude
