Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on both local and OTR routes
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and compliance with logistics cargo handling standards
- Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes while maintaining awareness of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Transport hazardous materials (Hazmat) and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for compliance with FMCSA regulations and vehicle condition
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in line with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate deliveries, report delays or issues, and ensure seamless route execution
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated (e.g., Hazmat, tanker)
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving for freight transportation
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and automobile transportation methods
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely
- Strong skills in truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling techniques
- Excellent navigation skills using GPS systems to follow designated routes efficiently
- Physical ability to handle manual loading/unloading tasks and work in various weather conditions
