Summer Camp Assistant and Future Pre K Assistant Teacher
Ladybird Academy of Clermont is looking for a dependable, energetic, and experienced early childhood educator to join our team.
This position will begin as a Summer Camp Assistant and will transition into a full day Pre K Assistant Teacher role in August. As enrollment continues to grow, this position may become a full day Pre K Lead Teacher role if an additional Pre K classroom opens.
We currently have 17 children enrolled in our full day Pre K program. If enrollment increases by two additional children, this team member may be considered for the lead role in the new full day Pre K classroom.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist with summer camp supervision, activities, field trips, classroom routines, and daily care
- Support the Pre K classroom with instruction, classroom management, supervision, and daily routines
- Help create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for children
- Assist with lesson implementation, small group activities, transitions, meals, rest time, and outdoor play
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and academic development
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and licensing standards
- Communicate professionally with children, families, and staff
- Follow all DCF, VPK, and school policies and procedures
- Be flexible and willing to support different classrooms or school needs as needed
- Assist with summer camp field trips
- Be willing to serve as a substitute driver for our 14 passenger school bus when qualified and approved
Qualifications
- CDA required
- VPK experience required
- Current VPK state credentials required
- DCF 45 training hours required
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or must be obtained
- Experience working with preschool or Pre K aged children required
- Strong classroom management skills
- Reliable, professional, and flexible
- Must be able to meet all childcare licensing requirements
- Must be able to pass required background screening
- Must meet all company, licensing, and insurance requirements to drive a 14 passenger bus if serving as a substitute driver
- Candidate must be 25 years of age or older to be considered for substitute bus driving duties

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Pre-K Classroom: 1 year (Preferred)
- Childcare Bus Driver: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- 45 DCF Training Hours Completed (Required)
- Child Development Associate Certification or Equivalent (Required)
- FL State VPK Qualifications on DCF Transcript (Required)
