JOB SUMMARY
The Personal Care Assistant provides non clinical, hands on support to clients with activities of daily living and household tasks in order to help clients maintain safety, dignity, and independence in their home or residential setting. The PCA works under the direction of the care team and in accordance with Across The Life Span and NC Medicaid policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist clients with personal hygiene including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning, using proper body mechanics and any prescribed assistive devices
- Prepare and assist with meals including support for special dietary needs as directed
- Perform light housekeeping tasks related to client care such as laundry, tidying client living areas, and maintaining a safe environment
- Provide companionship and encourage client engagement in appropriate activities
- Observe and promptly report any changes in client condition, behavior, or home environment to the supervisor or care team
- Accompany clients to medical appointments or errands as assigned
- Complete required documentation of services provided in a timely and accurate manner per Across The Life Span and NC Medicaid standards
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA at all times
- Follow the individualized service or care plan for each assigned client
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a PCA training program or equivalent hands on caregiving experience preferred
- Current CPR or First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within thirty days of hire
- Reliable transportation and a valid NC driver license where travel between client sites is required
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and health screenings or immunizations
- Dependable, compassionate, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow written care plans and verbal instructions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to lift, assist, and support clients up to fifty pounds with or without assistive devices
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and walking throughout the shift
- Ability to perform light housekeeping duties as related to client care
- Work may take place in client homes, residential settings, or Across The Life Span facilities across Roxboro, Yanceyville, or Greensboro NC
COMPLIANCE This position requires strict adherence to NC Medicaid regulations, HIPAA confidentiality standards, and all Across The Life Span, PLLC policies and procedures including timely and accurate documentation in the client record
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
