A leading provider of medical oxygen, respiratory equipment, and related healthcare supplies is seeking a dependable, professional, and safety-focused CDL Driver (+ HazMat Endorsement) to join our team.
The CDL Driver (+ HazMat Endorsement) is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional delivery, pickup, transportation, loading, unloading, and handling of medical oxygen cylinders, respiratory equipment, durable medical equipment, and related supplies to customer locations, healthcare facilities, company branches, and other designated sites.
This position requires compliance with all applicable Company policies and procedures, Department of Transportation regulations, OSHA requirements, FDA requirements, state and federal transportation regulations, and applicable safety and accreditation standards.
The CDL Driver is expected to maintain accurate delivery records, complete required vehicle inspections and documentation, safely handle oxygen and medical equipment, provide professional customer service, and maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safe operation of assigned Company vehicles.
General:
A CDL Driver, under the direction and supervision of his/her manager or assigned personnel, is responsible for the safe and timely delivery, pickup, transportation, loading, unloading, and handling of medical oxygen, respiratory equipment, and related medical supplies. This position is also responsible for maintaining assigned Company vehicles, completing required documentation, and ensuring all delivery and transportation activities are performed in accordance with Company policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Safely deliver and pick up medical oxygen cylinders, respiratory equipment, medical equipment, and related supplies.
- Load, unload, organize, and properly secure oxygen cylinders, equipment, and supplies for transport.
- Verify all equipment, oxygen cylinders, supplies, and quantities prior to departure.
- Ensure medical equipment selected for delivery is clean, properly assembled when required, and ready for customer use.
- Properly identify and tag returned, damaged, malfunctioning, or out-of-service equipment.
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork, electronic scanning, customer signatures, manifests, and related records.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any vehicle or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain assigned Company vehicles in a clean, safe, organized, and professional condition.
- Follow all applicable DOT, traffic, cargo securement, vehicle safety, and Company driving requirements.
- Maintain all required CDL credentials, DOT medical certification, endorsements, and driver qualification requirements.
- Safely handle and transport medical oxygen in accordance with Company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Inspect oxygen cylinders and equipment for visible damage, leaks, or unsafe conditions prior to transport.
- Assist customers with basic equipment setup or operation as trained and directed.
- Promptly report customer complaints, delivery issues, equipment concerns, or route delays to Management.
- Participate in mandatory in-services, safety meetings, and required training.
- Follow all applicable FDA, OSHA, DOT, state, federal, accreditation, and Company requirements.
- Assist other drivers, warehouse staff, service personnel, and operations staff as needed.
- Perform other related duties and projects as directed by assigned supervisor and/or manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License appropriate for assigned duties.
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and required DOT medical certification.
- Hazmat endorsement required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the Company.
- Medical oxygen, compressed gas, respiratory equipment, or route delivery experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and use hand trucks, dollies, liftgates, straps, and related equipment.
- Strong communication, customer service, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and adapt to changing routes or operational needs.
- Must be flexible with hours and willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or on-call hours as scheduled.
- Must successfully complete required background screening, drug testing, and ongoing DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, climb stairs, twist, push, pull, lift, carry, and safely move medical oxygen cylinders, respiratory equipment, and related supplies weighing up to 90 pounds. The employee must be able to safely enter and exit commercial vehicles throughout the workday, operate automotive and material-handling equipment, work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform duties on uneven surfaces and in active loading or delivery environments. The position also requires adequate vision, hearing, communication, coordination, and physical stamina to safely operate vehicles, inspect equipment, complete deliveries, and perform assigned job duties.
