Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting with the fitting and dispensing of eyewear. This position requires a strong understanding of optical principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Optical Technician will also ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical records.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their visual and lifestyle needs.
- Perform adjustments and repairs on eyewear to ensure proper fit.
- Maintain knowledge of current optical products, including lenses and frames.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Accurately document patient information and maintain medical records.
- Utilize retail math to assist in inventory management and sales tracking.
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Stay updated on advancements in optical technology and techniques.
Skills
- Strong patient care skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Familiarity with optical principles, including lens types, coatings, and frame styles.
- Proficient in retail math for effective inventory management and sales analysis.
- Understanding of aseptic techniques in a clinical setting.
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records with attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy as it relates to the optical field.
- Sales skills to effectively promote products and services to patients.
- Experience or knowledge in ophthalmology is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is beneficial.

Pay: $15.05 - $17.00 per hour
