We are seeking a detail-oriented Consumer Lending Specialist to support members with mortgage loans, personal loans, credit cards, vehicle loans, and HELOC loans. This is a non-commissioned role focused on member service, sound lending decisions, documentation accuracy, and support of the Credit Union’s mission to serve members well. This role is best suited for someone who values service, integrity, consistency, and helping members access responsible financial solutions.
What will make you successful in this role:
- At least 1 year of direct consumer lending experience
- At least 1 year of mortgage processing experience
- Strong attention to detail and comfort reviewing documentation, credit reports, and financial information
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, process-driven environment
- Sound judgment, accuracy, and consistency in applying loan policy
- A service mindset and genuine interest in helping members make responsible borrowing decisions
- Credit union or community banking experience preferred
Compensation:
This role is paid on a base-pay structure and does not include commission or incentive-based compensation.

What you will do:
- Review appraisal, title, and insurance documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Review and verify borrower documentation including income, assets, credit reports, and employment records to ensure loan eligibility.
- Maintain accurate and compliant loan files in accordance with federal, state, and investor guidelines.
- Prepare closing disclosures and loan documents in compliance with regulatory timelines.
- Review and process consumer loan applications
- Calculate payment capacity and debt ratios
- Make or support credit decisions within policy and regulatory guidelines
- Prepare documentation, denial letters, and file updates accurately
- Support branches and internal partners with lending-related activity
- Help members navigate the loan process with clarity and care
- Identify opportunities to connect members with relevant products and services when appropriate
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to move throughout the Credit Union and perform various physical activities.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 45 lbs.
- Manual dexterity required for operating computer keyboards.
- Work in a temperature-controlled office environment.
