Springborn Staffing is partnering with an established law firm in Portland to find a highly skilled Trial Legal Assistant. This is a direct-hire opportunity providing one-to-one support for a successful, high-volume Senior Counsel. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting an attorney who is frequently in court or working remotely, managing active caseloads, and preparing for multiple trials throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Trial Preparation: Provide comprehensive support for multiple active cases and assist in extensive trial preparation several times a year.
- Document Management: Transcribe and process dictated legal work accurately and efficiently as the attorney's primary method of drafting.
- Docketing: Manage court schedules, filings, and deadlines utilizing legal docketing software.
- Administrative Support: Serve as the primary point of contact and organizational lead for a Senior Counsel who is often out of the office.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Several years of dedicated trial preparation and legal assistance experience is required.
- Court Knowledge: Deep and proven understanding of Maine court systems and filing procedures.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with legal docketing software and dictation transcription tools.
- Attributes: A quick learner who is highly organized and capable of keeping pace with a high-level trial attorney.
