An established and growing concrete scanning, utility locating, and specialty construction services company is seeking an experienced GPR & Utility Locating Technician / Operations Lead for our Tampa Bay operation.
A minimum of one year of hands-on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) experience is required, with 2+ years strongly preferred. Candidates experienced in both concrete scanning and private utility locating will receive strongest consideration.
This is an opportunity for an experienced field technician who is ready to take on additional responsibility. In addition to performing GPR concrete scanning and private utility locating, the right candidate will help coordinate field technicians and scheduling, maintain and develop customer relationships, assist with sales, and help grow the operation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform GPR concrete scanning on commercial construction projects
- Perform private utility locating using GPR and electromagnetic locating equipment
- Identify and clearly mark reinforcing steel, post-tension cables, conduits, utilities, and other targets
- Interpret GPR data and clearly communicate findings and limitations to customers
- Complete field documentation and project reports
- Coordinate directly with contractors, project managers, facility personnel, and other customers
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating field technicians and projects
- Help develop new customer relationships and expand existing accounts
- Follow up on sales opportunities and customer requests
- Maintain GPR, utility locating, and other field equipment
- Maintain a professional company vehicle and jobsite presence
- Follow company and customer safety requirements
- Travel within the assigned Florida market as required
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on GPR experience
- 2+ years of GPR experience strongly preferred
- Experience independently performing and interpreting GPR scans
- Commercial construction and active jobsite experience
- Strong understanding of construction practices
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and field personnel
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Strong computer and field-reporting skills
- Ability to successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening requirements
Highly Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in both GPR concrete scanning and private utility locating will receive strongest consideration.
Additional experience that would be beneficial includes:
- Private utility locating
- Electromagnetic/RF utility locating equipment
- Concrete core drilling and/or concrete cutting
- Transition from concrete cutting/core drilling into GPR scanning
- Project management or field supervision
- Dispatching or scheduling field technicians
- Estimating
- Customer service and account management
- Construction-related sales or business development
Concrete core drilling experience is helpful but not required. Candidates who have worked in concrete cutting or core drilling before moving into GPR scanning are encouraged to apply.
