Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts within the custom millwork manufacturing and distribution industry.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sales leadership, customer relationship management, and the residential and commercial millwork markets. This role requires strong industry expertise, leadership ability, and a passion for building long-term customer relationships.
This position will lead and mentor our Customer Service and Inside/Outside Sales teams while driving revenue growth and operational excellence.
Reports To: Executive Director of Sales & Marketing
Direct Reports: Customer Service Department and Field Sales Support
Key ResponsibilitiesSales Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue goals.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
- Forecast sales performance, establish targets, and monitor results.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Customer Service representatives and Inside/Outside Sales teams.
- Establish performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
- Promote and reinforce company values and mission statement.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, architects, designers, specifiers, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and resolve client concerns professionally.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market presence.
Product & Market Knowledge
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of custom millwork products, building codes, specifications, and industry standards.
- Educate customers and team members on product offerings and applications.
- Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activity.
Operational Coordination
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, logistics, purchasing, and product development teams.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
- Coordinate promotional activities and trade show participation.
- Prepare detailed sales reports and forecasts for executive leadership.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of proven sales management experience in custom millwork, windows, doors, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes within the residential and commercial markets.
- Knowledge of product specifications and installation processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and team development skills.
- Ability to analyze sales data and develop strategic plans.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.
