THE POSITION
The Bureau of Engineering and Construction is searching for a motivated Equipment Operator B who enjoys working outdoors and tackling hands-on challenges. This role allows you to support important construction projects that help maintain and improve facilities across the state. You will be part of a team that values skill, safety, and reliability. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position performs skilled work operating heavy equipment to support construction projects for facilities, roadways, waterways, and other agency sites. As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and trucks to complete construction tasks
- Transport Duties: Drive tractor trailers to move equipment while ensuring secure loads and compliance with legal limits
- Vehicle Servicing: Perform inspections and routine maintenance including lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs
- Labor Support: Carry out tasks such as pipe installation, concrete work, erosion control, site cleanup, and similar duties
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret project blueprints and schematics to support accurate construction work

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. AWS (alternate work schedule) with a 4 day work week may be considered.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL).
