Job Summary
The Production Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting daily manufacturing operations, serving as the critical bridge between the 1st and 2nd shifts. Focusing heavily on room readiness, accurate production data, and seamless shift transitions, this position acts as the primary point of peer guidance for the evening production team. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate record-keeping, efficient line setups, and strict compliance with all operational procedures to maintain peak workflow efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Execute detailed shift handoffs with the 1st shift team, ensuring all critical information, production priorities, and pending issues are clearly communicated to 2nd shift personnel.
- Assist with daily room openings and line setups, which includes verifying materials, inspecting equipment, and ensuring 100% production readiness before operations begin.
- Monitor and coordinate production schedules on the floor to optimize workflow, resolve minor operational bottlenecks, and ensure established deadlines are met.
- Gather, prepare, and verify all necessary batch records for job initiation. At the end of the production day, collect, review, and meticulously organize completed batch record units.
- Utilize Asana to track job progress, ensure timely task completion, and maintain clear communication across departments.
- Perform accurate, real-time data entry using RF scanners. Support the production department with all RF-related processes to ensure precise inventory tracking and verify material/product issuance.
- Generate and print accurate shipping labels, partial material labels, and daily production job labels as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for 2nd shift associates regarding day-to-day production questions and minor operational challenges.
- Provide peer guidance to ensure the production team adheres to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines throughout the evening shift.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree highly preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with project management software (Asana preferred), proficiency in G suite and experience with RF scanners and data management tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Language
- Strong English reading and writing proficiency required.
Physical Requirements
- The role is primarily performed on the production floor
- Requires standing for long periods of time and walking to other production buildings as needed.
- Must be able to safely walk up and down stairs without assistance.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs unaided and perform tasks that require bending, crouching, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Frequently exposed to varying extreme conditions and loud noise levels.
- Required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for various environments
- Regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
