About the Role
MJ Martin Design in Old Saybrook, CT is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Design Assistant to support daily showroom operations, customer communication, sales tracking, scheduling, and marketing coordination. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interior design, working with customers, keeping projects organized, and helping a showroom run smoothly from day to day.
Key Responsibilities
● Answer voicemail, return calls, monitor email, and respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
● Create customer contact sheets for new leads and enter information into our CRM.
● Update the sales tracker spreadsheet and maintain accurate customer, appointment, quote, invoice, and delivery information.
● Manage showroom appointments and keep the calendar current.
● Track items that need attention and communicate follow-ups to the appropriate team members.
● Prepare and send reminder emails to clients about meetings, invoices, balances due, and upcoming shipments.
● Help maintain an organized, welcoming showroom by putting out signage, organizing samples, and supporting showroom updates.
● Assist with weekly administrative meetings, social media posts, marketing follow-up, newsletters, and trade partner outreach.
● Support customer meetings, contractor meetings, site visits, design reviews, hardware selections, repairs, and other showroom or shop-related needs as assigned.
● Coordinate photo shoots for completed projects including staging as needed.
● Manage and create content for company social media channels.
Qualifications
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Professional communication skills by phone and email.
● Comfortable using calendars, spreadsheets, email, and CRM systems; experience with Zoho CRM is a plus.
● Ability to prioritize tasks, follow up consistently, and keep accurate records.
● Customer-service mindset with a polished and helpful demeanor.
● Interest in design, cabinetry, showrooms, home improvement, or trade partner relationships is helpful but not required.
Cabinetry, kitchen/bath or interior design, or project coordination experience is preferred but not required.
Compensation includes an hourly wage plus commission opportunity.
Pay: $25.15 - $30.28 per hour
