Role Overview
DM Premier Group, an established construction firm, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller. As a key leader in our front office, you will oversee all financial operations, ensuring project profitability and maintaining the overall financial health of the company. The ideal candidate has a "boots-on-the-ground" understanding of construction accounting and is a QuickBooks expert capable of managing complex project-based finances.

Key Responsibilities
- Project Accounting: Oversee construction-specific financial tasks including Job Costing, Progress Billing (AIA), and tracking labor/material variances.
- Financial Oversight: Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and Revenue Recognition.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow closely, managing the timing between project expenses and client/insurance reimbursements.
- Reporting: Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for ownership.
- Compliance & Risk: Manage local/state tax filings, ensure proper insurance certificates are on file for subcontractors, and oversee workers' comp audits.
- Process Improvement: Develop and document internal controls and accounting policies to increase efficiency and data accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Controller Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a Controller role.
- Accounting Core: 8+ years of overall professional accounting experience.
- Industry Experience: 2+ years of experience working specifically within a construction, restoration, or specialized trade company
- Software Expertise: 4+ years of advanced, hands-on experience using QuickBooks (Enterprise or Online) is mandatory. Excel proficency a must.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of GAAP and proficiency in MS Excel.
Construction-Specific Skills
- Proven experience with Job Costing and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting.
- Familiarity with construction-related legalities (Lien Waivers, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
- Ability to collaborate with Project Managers to ensure budget adherence.
- Supervise finance team members in maintaining accurate records within accounting software platforms like Xero or Sage while fostering professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong background in governmental or non-profit sectors highly desirable.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; experience with financial management systems is essential.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and regulatory reporting procedures.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting concepts including general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, payroll processing, and account reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of cash management strategies, budgeting techniques, and financial analysis methodologies.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
