Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to enhance comfort and independence
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision and attention to detail
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients and assisting with tasks like catheter care, wound care, and basic life support when needed
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Facilitate safe patient transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and adhere to proper manual handling practices to prevent injury
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care delivery
- Follow aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and promote a sterile environment
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations
- Experience working in diverse healthcare settings including long-term care facilities, hospitals, or assisted living communities is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic anatomy relevant to patient care
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and utilize safe lifting practices during patient transfers
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate caregiving tailored to individual needs
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications such as CPR or phlebotomy are advantageous
- Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus
