Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist the dentist during procedures through chairside assisting, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared efficiently.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Follow infection prevention management protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment with proper infection control procedures.
Skills
- Proficiency in using dental software platforms like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry and providing care tailored to children’s needs.
- Skilled in dental x-ray techniques, including taking intraoral and extraoral images while ensuring patient safety.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health status and treatment plans.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with efficiency during various dental procedures in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards, HIPAA regulations, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
