JOB TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse
SALARY: According to placement on current compensation table
All employees are eligible for participation in the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Account, PERA.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9-month position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures for evaluating non-licensed staff
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education, and Registered Nurse
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program
Experience:
1. One or more years of experience preferred
Certificates/Licenses:
1. Valid driver’s license
2. Valid Licensed Practical Nurse license 3. Valid CPR and First Aid certifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Administers medication and performs invasive procedures, including but not limited to: catheterization, tracheotomy care, gastrostomy feeding, and any other treatments as delegated by Registered Nurse
2. Records treatment and/or care of special needs students as delegated by Registered Nurse
3. Responsible for organizing and setting up school-wide annual vision and hearing screenings in each school
4. Responsible for training volunteers to assist with school-wide screenings
5. Responsible for recording results of vision and hearing screenings and sending copies to schools
6. Responsible for assisting with medical billing
7. Maintains records and completes all information necessary for the District management system or requirements by state and federal guidelines
8. Models an effective understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion
9. Incorporates legal rights and due process for children with special needs
10. Demonstrates a positive attitude toward change
11. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with co-workers, and interact with colleagues in a professional manner
12. Performs such other tasks as may, from time to time, be assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Certain positions within the District may impose additional physical demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; taste and smell; and talk and hear. The employee may also need to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to exert average or above average physical exertion in the Center Based Special Education programs.
