Job Duties/Essential Functions
● Locates member car in tire shop area of lot. Lists body damage on service order. Drives member vehicle into install bay and onto hydraulic hoist. Raises auto.
● Removes wheel using impact gun. Rolls wheel to mounting machine, removes tire from wheel. Cleans hub and wheel rim with wire brush. Attaches new valve stem, mounts new tire on wheel, fills tire to appropriate air pressure.
● Operates automatic balance machine to get reading of proper weight and placement to balance wheel. Attaches weights (including tape weights) to rims with weight hammer.
● Mounts wheels to auto using impact gun according to Tire Shop procedures.
● Alerts supervisor or manager to complete torque check and 10-point check and authorize vehicle release. Parks member auto in lot, and returns invoice and keys to sales desk.
● Repairs flat tires for members and non-members.
● Cleans install area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping.
● Stocks tires and batteries in sales area in accordance with Tire Shop Manager’s merchandising plan.
● Assists members in determining tire and battery needs, answers questions, makes product recommendations, sells tires. Checks air pressure for members. Invoices tire purchase and service invoice. Loads tires on dolly or rolls tires to install area.
● Rings up orders. Receives accurate payment, makes change, processes checks, credit and debit charges, gives out receipt and submits order according to proper procedures. Calculates refund amount for certain warranty returns of tires and auto batteries.
● Communicates with Tire Shop Manager, Buyers, Receiving Departments, and Inventory Auditors regarding special orders, quantity, status, price, delivery, and promotion of merchandise.
● Follows safety and security procedures.
● Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
● Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
● Computer, calculator, cash register, phone, fax, copier, member automobile, balancer, torque wrench, mounter, impact gun, drill, grinder, hydraulic hoist, power jack, dolly.
Non-Essential Functions
● Assists with Front End duties as necessary.
● Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
- Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
● Cash register, tabletop/hand-held scanners, computer, calculator, phone, carts, flatbeds.
Experience - Prior tire shop experience or automotive repair background is highly preferred
Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications
Required:
● Valid Driver’s License required
Torque Test (initial assignment), Tire Shop Certification (within 30 days), Michelin Certification (within 30 days).
● Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course: Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Hazmat Universal Waste Training- Short Version (within 30 days and then every year), Option STOP Training (within 30 days), HazMat RTV Bucket Program (within 30 days).
● Must be current on annual safety training within 30 days of hire.
- Familiarity with tire service procedures including mounting, balancing, and rotation
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and automotive service equipment effectively
- Service technician experience demonstrating attention to detail in vehicle care
- Ability to lift heavy tires safely and perform physically demanding tasks regularly
- Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to sales and maintenance recommendations

Pay: $21.00 - $32.90 per hour
