What You Will Do:
This position is for an experienced machinist who can work independently and operate a variety of machines.
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts, the best sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Safely set up and operate the correct machine for the job, to include selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shapers.
- Double check dimensions to ensure part will clean up to size and for errors. Run the part or parts, ensuring the highest level of quality at the lowest possible cost.
- Perform all assigned preventive maintenance to the machines. Clean according to procedures.
- Act as a technical resource to other machinists and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
- Obtain and move or store parts to the next area of operations.
- Recommend methods or processes that will ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
What We Are Looking For:
- Skills and Experience: Must have experience with some of the following: manual machines, conversational programming, program editing, short-run set-up, troubleshooting, live tooling and experience of working with various metals & alloys.
- Education/Experience: Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Three years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience is required. Completion of an accredited Journeyman/Journeywoman Machinist program and/or the ability to safely set up and efficiently operate a variety of tool room machines, such as mills, lathes, grinders, presses, etc. preferred.
- Language Ability: Ability to communicate effectively with employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and paperwork.
- Math Ability:· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of inventory software and manufacturing software.
- Certificates and Licenses: Must obtain lift equipment certification & OSHA training after hire.
- Physical Demands:· While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
- Vision Demands: Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- PPE/Safety Demands: Requires the use of safety glasses and shoes, hearing protection, dust masks, gloves, and face shields as dictated by the work being performed.
- Other:· Requires the ability to operate torching equipment.Prior knowledge and/or experience with pump operation, fabrication, or repair is a plus!
