We are seeking PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants with weekday availability (patients are typically seen M-F 9am-4:30pm) to help support the immediate needs of the therapy program at Weinberg Community, an assisted living community located at 1551 Lake Cook Rd, Deerfield, IL 60015
Pay rates are flexible/negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. New Grads are welcome to apply.
Weinberg is a premiere non-for-profit senior living community in the north suburbs with an active physical therapy program.
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will report to the Therapy Manager.
Job Overview
Assists in providing rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Works under the direction of occupational therapists to plan, implement, or administer programs that restore or enhance performance in individuals with functional impairments.
- Monitors patients' performance in therapy activities and provides encouragement.
- Assists in instructing patients and families in home programs, basic living skills, or the care and use of adaptive equipment.
- Observes and records patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior and maintains this information in client records.
- Assists occupational therapists with implementing treatment plans.
- Reports to supervisors on patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior.
- Performs clerical duties.

Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program
- Experience: 1-2 years of related experience preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant state of IL license
Physical Requirements
- Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the phone.
- Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients and clients in person and over the phone.
- Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
- Other: Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds of medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements. Must be able to withstand extended periods of time: standing, walking, reaching, twisting (knees/waist/neck), crouching (bend at knees), and stooping (bend at waist).
