Duties
- Diagnose transmission issues using advanced automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to identify root causes efficiently.
- Repair and rebuild transmissions, including both manual and automatic types, ensuring optimal performance and durability.
- Perform comprehensive vehicle maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, filter replacements, and system inspections related to the powertrain.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical devices to disassemble, repair, and reassemble transmission components.
- Conduct alignment checks and repairs to ensure proper vehicle handling and performance standards are met.
- Interpret automotive electrical systems and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) diagnostics to troubleshoot complex electronic issues.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and communicate effectively with team members and customers about repair progress.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience with a focus on automotive repair.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems including powertrain, electrical systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Familiarity with schematics, automotive diagnostics software, and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Hands-on experience with GM vehicles or similar makes is preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and automotive service machinery safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures such as wheel alignment, auto body repair basics, and general automotive service practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Additional skills such as welding proficiency or experience working with ADAS technologies are a plus.
