Lead Bus Driver Needed
Location: Champlain Valley School District

The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking an organized, proactive, and reliable Lead Bus Driver to support our Hinesburg transportation operations (36 hours weekly). This role combines regular route driving with dedicated office hours to assist the Transportation Supervisor/Director with daily routing coordination and driver support for Hinesburg Community School and Champlain Valley High School.
This is a full-time position that includes a twice-yearly stipend.
Primary Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact to assist and support drivers with real-time operational adjustments, immediate daily needs, and route troubleshooting.

Assist in managing daily driver call-outs, coordinating coverage, and reassigning runs to ensure uninterrupted transportation service.

Support the Transportation Supervisor in planning, scheduling, and adjusting bus routes and student assignments for Hinesburg Community School and Champlain Valley High School.

Consult and collaborate regularly with school and building administrators to align on student transportation needs, scheduling, and logistical adjustments.

Safely operate a school bus on assigned regular routes and transport students as needed during the school day, including during inclement weather.

Maintain clear, professional communication with transportation staff, school leadership, and families while exhibiting strong familiarity with route directions and consistent punctuality.
Job Requirements & Qualifications

Clean driving record.

Required fingerprinting and background/criminal record checks.

Mandatory drug and alcohol testing compliance.

Demonstrated organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and problem-solving abilities.

High-level dependability and strong interpersonal communication skills.
