American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience.
-
Medical Telemetry unit within a 109-licensed-bed hospital that is an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
-
Unit has 27 beds with an average census of 20 patients
-
Patient population includes stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed diagnoses
-
RN staffing ratio of 1:5-6 acuity dependent, with surge staffing potentially increasing to 1:7-8
-
12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) as needed within scope of practice

Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
-
Support staff includes 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring techs
-
CNA support available for ADLs, vitals, and certified foley/IV tasks

Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience required
-
Skilled in stroke care/NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)

Experience with PCA pumps and medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids

Epic EMR experience required

Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Provide comprehensive Med/Surg Tele nursing care within a positive, team-driven unit culture

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position
-
Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract

Schedule operates on a 6-week cycle

Facility and departmental orientation includes NEO plus 2 days departmental

Navy blue scrubs required

First-time travelers will be considered, though experienced resource team travelers are preferred

Candidates must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning
