As a machine shop assistant, you will play an important role in keeping our machine shop running safely, efficiently, and organized. This is a hands-on position for someone who is dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable taking on a variety of tasks throughout the shop.
The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, stay productive, and pitch in wherever needed. No two days are necessarily the same, and being willing to learn new tasks and help the team is an important part of the job.
Responsibilities Overview
Material Handling
- Cut, move, and organize materials as needed.
- Assist with material layout according to customer specifications.
- Handle and organize scrap materials, including metal shavings and excess material.
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming materials and orders.
- Prepare finished parts for shipment.
- Clean, package, and secure parts for shipping.
- Load and unload trucks using a forklift.
Deliveries & Pickups
- Perform local deliveries and pickups as needed.
- Safely load, secure, and transport materials and parts.
Crating & Packaging
- Assist with designing and building wooden crates for customer parts.
- Prepare parts and materials for safe shipment.
Shop Support
- Assist with light assembly and other shop tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform routine cleaning throughout the shop.
- Remove trash and maintain waste and scrap areas.
Grounds & Facility Maintenance
- Mow and maintain the lawn and outdoor areas.
- Shovel and salt sidewalks and other areas during winter weather.
- Assist with weed control, landscaping, and general exterior maintenance.

- Previous forklift experience is a plus; training may be provided.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
