We are hiring smart, engaging tutors in math, science, humanities, and SAT/ACT prep. We look for interesting, eclectic people with strong subject knowledge and unconventional backgrounds—people who bring their own stories, interests, and perspectives to our community of tutors and students.
Tutors work paid shifts that combine private sessions with time as a Roaming Tutor in the Academic Lounge, helping students across subjects and reducing the unpaid gaps common in traditional tutoring jobs.

What You’ll Do
- Tutor high school students in the subjects you know best
- If selected for our test-prep team, complete paid training in The House’s SAT and ACT strategies and curriculum
- Move between private sessions and the Academic Lounge during your paid shifts
- Jump in when students get stuck, explain hard ideas clearly, and help them keep moving
- Build real relationships with students and become someone they trust
- Work alongside remarkable tutors in a fun, eclectic community
Who We’re Looking For
We look for tutors who are:
- Exceptional in one or more high school subjects
- Clear, patient communicators who can explain ideas in more than one way
- Comfortable connecting with teenagers
- Reliable, responsive, and ready to be part of a team
- Interesting people with varied backgrounds, perspectives, and interests
A bachelor’s degree and prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or other youth-facing experience are required. Prior SAT or ACT tutoring experience is strongly preferred for candidates seeking test-prep assignments.

Subjects We’re Hiring For
We are especially interested in tutors who can teach:
- Math: Algebra through Calculus, including Statistics
- Science: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- Humanities: English, Writing, History, Social Sciences, and Economics
- SAT and ACT
You do not need to teach every subject. Deep expertise in one or more areas is what matters.
Availability:
A minimum of six hours of weekly availability is required. Most tutoring takes place after school, in the evenings, and on Sundays.
