Position overview:
The Lab Reporting Specialist will be primarily responsible for generating, reviewing, and sending reports to clients, regulatory entities, and utilities. This role will regularly communicate with clients, keep detailed records, and utilize our LIMs database. Additionally, we are looking for a qualified candidate to become a Kentucky certified microbiologist to assist in microbiology testing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reporting: Create, print, scan, file, email and/or mail all reports as they become available. This may also include specialty forms such as MSD cover sheets, excel spreadsheets, etc. Enter and report Indiana Drinking water results on the Indiana Portal (CMDP)
- Record Keeping and Clientele Management: File and organize all reports, client permits, COCs, etc. Keep a detailed, up to date distribution and client contact list. Communicate with clients regarding report distribution and send previous reports as requested. Send Drinking water forms to state of KY officials (Monthly).
- Review Chain of Custody (COC) Forms: Review COCs daily for login errors, file and organize by client. Compare pending reports to COCs to ensure accuracy.
- Manage Reports and Samples Sent to Contract Labs: Monitor contract lab portals for posted reports and ensure the arrival of shipped samples. Create and send KY drinking water forms to contract labs. Print and enter all contract lab data, paperwork, and reports into LIMs. Provide support to contract labs regarding shipping, results, reports, etc.
- Microbiology Analysis: Become a certified microbiologist through Kentucky DOW. Analyze drinking water and wastewater samples and communicate results to clients. Weekend and holiday work will be required on a rotating schedule.
- Other: May be required to assist in the following additional tasks: shipping, sample receiving, sample login, answering phone calls, wet chemistry analysis, reviewing permits, drinking water regulation/ compliance and any other tasks required.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- Proficient computer skills (required)
- Administrative or record keeping experience (preferred)
- Laboratory experience (preferred)
- College level microbiology lab credit (preferred)
- The education requirements may be substituted for equivalent experience on a case-by-case basis.
