Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment to ensure readiness for oral surgery procedures.
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgeries by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field using aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Monitor vital signs and patient comfort levels throughout procedures, providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients.
- Manage medical records, documentation, and coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic.
- Maintain infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting surfaces, and adhering to OSHA standards.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing patient flow as a dental receptionist, and updating medical documentation efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on oral surgery or related specialties such as prosthodontics or endodontics.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic setting.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or in patient interaction roles are highly valued.
