Brooksource is seeking experienced Reliability Engineers to support the assessment, improvement, and long-term performance of electric distribution systems throughout Pennsylvania. This role is ideal for mid-to-senior level engineers with a strong background in electric utility operations, reliability analysis, and distribution infrastructure planning who can contribute immediately within a highly visible engineering organization.
The selected individual will play a key role in improving system reliability, supporting grid modernization initiatives, analyzing outage and performance data, and developing infrastructure investment strategies that ensure safe and reliable service for customers. This position also offers an opportunity to serve as a technical mentor and help develop future engineering talent entering the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve electric distribution system reliability performance across multiple operating areas.
- Develop reliability improvement strategies and long-range plans to support system modernization and future load growth.
- Support long-term infrastructure investment planning and reliability-focused capital projects.
- Perform detailed analysis of outage events, circuit lockouts, device interruptions, CEMI/DEMI metrics, and underperforming circuits.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for engineering and operational leadership teams.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and execution of reliability initiatives.
- Partner with field operations, system operations, distribution control centers, and engineering teams to resolve reliability concerns.
- Investigate power quality issues and support customer inquiries as needed.
- Review equipment performance data and identify corrective actions for inoperable or aging infrastructure.
- Provide technical expertise during storm restoration efforts and emergency response activities.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for junior engineers and early-career technical professionals.
- Ensure all work is executed in accordance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of utility engineering experience with a focus on electric distribution systems.
- Experience operating at an Engineer III or Engineer IV level.
- Strong understanding of electric distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and reliability performance.
- Experience analyzing electrical system data and developing engineering recommendations.
- Knowledge of utility reliability metrics, outage analysis, and infrastructure planning.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and leadership stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Pennsylvania as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE) certification.
- Experience supporting storm restoration or emergency response operations.
- Understanding of NESC and NEC requirements.
- Experience with power quality investigations, outage management systems, and utility analytics tools.
- Previous experience mentoring junior engineers or technical employees.

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
