Precision Manufacturing Group is looking for a CNC Laser Programmer / CAD Technician to join our team in Muskegon.
This is a hands-on manufacturing position for someone who can take a customer print, DXF, CAD file or 3D model and turn it into an accurate, efficient, shop-ready laser program. You will work closely with our laser operators and production team to keep work flowing accurately and efficiently through the shop.
This is not an engineering-degree position. We are looking for practical CAD, programming and manufacturing ability. If you understand fabricated metal parts and have experience programming CNC laser, plasma, waterjet or similar equipment, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Create CNC laser programs from customer drawings, DXF files and 3D models
- Use Radan, AutoCAD and SolidWorks to prepare parts for production
- Create and optimize nests for efficient material utilization
- Review customer drawings and CAD data for accuracy and manufacturability
- Interpret dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and fabrication requirements
- Work directly with laser operators to resolve programming and production issues
- Make program adjustments as necessary to improve quality and efficiency
- Maintain accurate part files, revisions and manufacturing documentation
- Coordinate with production, estimating and other departments to keep jobs moving
- Help determine efficient methods for processing fabricated metal components
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Experience with CAD, CNC programming or manufacturing programming
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and blueprints
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical math skills
- Comfortable working independently and solving manufacturing problems
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
- Good communication and organizational skills
Preferred, but not required:
- CNC laser programming experience
- Radan or similar nesting/programming software experience
- AutoCAD experience
- SolidWorks experience
- Experience with Mazak, Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic, Mitsubishi or other CNC laser systems
- Sheet metal or plate fabrication experience
- Experience with DXF files, flat patterns and nesting
- Manufacturing, tool & die or metal fabrication background
A college degree is not required. Relevant hands-on manufacturing, CAD or CNC programming experience is more important to us.
