Join one of Boston’s most respected dermatology practices as a Prior Authorization Biologics Coordinator! In this role, the Prior Authorization Biologics Coordinator serves as the critical link between physicians, patients, and insurance carriers, managing prior authorizations across a range of medications and procedures, including biologic and specialty therapies used in the treatment of dermatologic conditions.
Prior Authorization Biologics Coordinator Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in business preferred
- Prior authorization or healthcare administrative experience preferred; knowledge of dermatology and biologic or specialty pharmaceuticals a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent customer service skills
- Must possess a calm, reassuring, competent, and sensitive demeanor; patient confidentiality required
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team player
- Strong technical skills including experience with AI-assisted platforms, and proficiency with MS Office; experience with Forus and ModMed a plus

Prior Authorization Biologics Coordinator Job Responsibilities
- Collect prior authorization requests initiated by physicians
- Maintain detailed tracking log for all prior authorization requests and statuses
- Initiate the prior authorization request to patient’s insurance carrier
- Maintain a line of communication between patient, provider, and insurance carrier
- Work daily within the Forus portal to retrieve incoming tasks and notifications; facilitate timely communication between provider, pharmacy, and patient
- Document and maintain authorization records from insurance carriers in patient charts
- Update patient records in ModMed with current prior authorization status in a timely manner
- Initiate letters of medical necessity from physicians
- Pre-authorize surgeries, medications, and other procedures with third party payers as necessary
- Must keep patient and business confidentiality at all times
- Follow HIPAA policies for patient privacy and has access to Level 2,3,4 PHI; comply with OSHA and AAHC policies and procedures
- Support the billing team with additional administrative duties as needed
