We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Roofing Assistant to join our growing team at L.E. Schwartz & Son, Inc., a family-owned Roofing and Siding Company with over 100 years of experience. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the roofing superintendent in providing preventive and responsive roof maintenance services, ensuring repairs are made efficiently and to high standards. This position requires a proactive individual who is physically capable and willing to take part in the hands-on repair process alongside the roofing team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist the roofing superintendent in preventive and responsive roof maintenance, including repairs to roof leaks caused by deterioration and damage.
- Transport materials, including roofing cement, hand tools, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, and roll roofing, from storage to the repair area.
- Participate in roof repairs, assisting with the process of making the necessary fixes.
- Act as a fire watch person during hot work repairs to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure materials are safely handled and stored.
- Ensure all safety procedures and guidelines are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with any other tasks as needed to support the roofing team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in construction or roofing is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, as well as work at heights.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Drug-Free Workplace: Must pass a witnessed pre-employment drug screen and physical.
· Work hours: 4–10-hour days Monday through Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm (occasional overtime possible).
Dress Code:
· Loose clothing is not permitted on-site.
· Long sleeves (if worn) must be fastened near the sleeve or fit close to the arm.
· Clothing must fit close to the body to avoid catching on moving equipment.
· Shirt tails must not extend past the pocket on the back of your pants.
· Hoodies must be zipped up and the hood tucked inside when on the operating floor.
· Long pants (covering the sock) must be worn, and loose cuff pants are not permitted.
· No jewelry except stud piercings allowed outside the pedestrian walkway.
· ID badges should be clipped to clothing. Break-away lanyards are permitted.
· Hard hats or bump caps must always be worn, except in offices.
· Hair must be short or restrained. Beards should be groomed and not exceed 2 inches in length.
- Smoking: Tobacco products and smoking (including E-Cigarettes) are only allowed in designated external areas outside buildings.
Drug-Free Workplace:
· The possession, sale, or use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
· The possession or consumption of alcohol while on duty is strictly prohibited.
· Alcohol abuse, even when not on duty, is prohibited if it affects performance.
