Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team in the back office setting. This vital role requires at least one year of experience supporting clinical operations, with a strong focus on patient care, medical procedures, and administrative support. You will assist healthcare providers with a variety of clinical tasks, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality care delivery across outpatient and inpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Support clinical procedures including medication administration, wound care, basic X-ray procedures, and assisting during minor surgeries or procedures in the clinic or hospital environment.
- Document clinical notes, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and other relevant data precisely within EHR systems.
- Support hospital medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or medical-surgical units by assisting with patient care activities in inpatient or outpatient settings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to safety protocols for Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient flow during intake, discharge, or emergency situations such as Level I trauma or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) cases.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is required.
- Prior experience supporting dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology is essential for accurate documentation.
- Experience working in hospital environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers enhances your candidacy.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, medication administration, and vital signs measurement is necessary for success in this role.
- Previous clinic experience in outpatient settings—including internal medicine or geriatrics—will be advantageous.
