Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Schedule varies. Typically Monday-Friday, with participation in on-call rotation.
Location: Based out of our main office located in Missoula, MT, may require travel to other counties within our service area.
Job Summary:
As a Hospice chaplain you will provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families during end-of-life care at our Inpatient and Outpatient settings. You will offer comfort, guidance, and a listening ear, helping individuals navigate the emotional and spiritual challenges associated with the end of life. This support extends to family members, offering grief counseling and assistance with memorial services. In addition, to the inpatient and outpatient settings you will be required to provide support to the Palliative Care department
Assist patients and families explore their beliefs and values, addressing questions about life, death, and the afterlife. Offer comfort through prayer, meditation, or simply by listening and providing a calming presence.
Provide a safe space for patients and families to express their fears, anxieties, and hopes. This might involve helping them process grief, reconcile relationships, or find meaning in their experiences.
Extend care to family members, providing support before, during, and after a patient's death. They can help with funeral arrangements, grief counseling, and connecting families with support groups.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Be an active participant of the interdisciplinary team, working alongside doctors, nurses, social workers, and other professionals to provide comprehensive care.

Addressing Spiritual Needs:
Ensure that patients' spiritual needs are met, regardless of their faith or beliefs.
Help patients create a legacy, whether through storytelling, creating memory books, or other meaningful activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications include Master’s in Theology/Divinity or equivalent; training in basic counseling techniques with crisis intervention and family dynamics and at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred; a valid driver’s license, appropriate auto insurance and reliable transportation. 1 year of previous experience with Hospice or the terminally ill preferred. Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, death and grief issues, Conditions of Participation, and community resources preferred.
