Job Overview
Charlie Obaugh Auto Group is actively hiring an Experienced Used Car Buyer / Automotive Inventory Manager to drive acquisition and profitability of our pre-owned inventory. This is a high-impact role for a professional skilled in vehicle sourcing, appraisal, inventory management, and automotive market analysis.
Key Responsibilities (Keywords: Used Car Buyer, Vehicle Acquisition, Inventory Management)
- Source and acquire pre-owned vehicles via auto auctions (Manheim, ADESA), trade-ins, private sellers, and wholesale channels
- Perform accurate vehicle appraisals, VIN analysis, and market-based pricing evaluations
- Utilize tools such as vAuto, Kelley Blue Book (KBB), Black Book, and auction platforms
- Analyze used car market trends, inventory turn, and pricing strategies
- Negotiate purchases to maximize front-end gross profit and ROI
- Manage used vehicle inventory levels, aging units, and reconditioning budgets
- Partner with sales management to align inventory mix with retail demand
- Build strong relationships with dealers, wholesalers, and auction representatives
Qualifications (Keywords: Automotive Buyer Experience, Car Appraisal, Dealer Experience)
- 3+ years as a Used Car Buyer, Automotive Buyer, or Inventory Manager
- Proven success in vehicle acquisition, negotiation, and inventory turn
- Strong knowledge of automotive valuation tools (KBB, Black Book, vAuto)
- Experience with dealer management systems (DMS) preferred
- Ability to analyze pricing data, market demand, and sales trends
- Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven
- Valid driver’s license required
