Lead Indigenous Education and Cultural Connections
South Koochiching / Rainy River ISD 363 is seeking a dedicated Indigenous Studies Coordinator to lead and strengthen Indigenous education initiatives throughout the district. This position will collaborate with school staff, families, tribal communities, and community partners to promote culturally responsive education, support student achievement, and ensure the integration of Indigenous perspectives into curriculum and school programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee Indigenous Education programming and initiatives throughout the district.
- Build and maintain positive partnerships with tribal governments, elders, families, and community organizations.
- Support the implementation of culturally relevant curriculum and instructional practices.
- Provide professional development for staff related to Indigenous history, culture, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Assist students and families by connecting them with educational and community resources.
- Coordinate cultural events, educational activities, and family engagement opportunities.
- Assist with grant writing, reporting, and program evaluation and monitor compliance as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or administration.
- Collaborate with staff, administrators, and the community to support student well-being.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and history.
- Experience with educational programming, grant administration, or student support services is preferred.
- Valid Minnesota driver's license.
