Salary Range: $13.50 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY
Follow the mission of Transitions: To Engage and equip homeless adults of the Midlands to transition into stability and permanent housing. Safety Resource Coordinator will assist with client entry and safety of the facility. Under the general supervision of the Safety Resource Coordinator, this position performs a variety of duties to include greeting and checking bags of those entering the facility. Duties will include supporting the Shift Supervisor and other staff to ensure program policies and procedures are enforced. Normal hours for this position by shift will be up to 29 hours per week, Monday through Sunday.
1st shift 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
2ndshift 4:00 pm to 12:00 am
3rdshift 12:00 am to 8:00 am
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All reasonable efforts will be made to create and maintain a safe and secure environment at the
Facility through the use of trained personnel and enforcement of rules, standards, policies and procedures. To permit immediate communication between Shift Staff and security personnel, both parties will be equipped with hand-held radios tuned to the same frequency.
- Informed and enforce the rules, regulations and procedures of the facility and the responsibilities of shelter Guests
- Monitor areas of entry and exit as well as the entire facility and perimeter sidewalks to ensure client conduct is meeting standards for safety. Provide a safe, secure environment and have policies to regulate access.
- Possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with attention to maintaining appropriate boundaries. Serve each client with compassion and non-judgment. You are to treat clients with respect. Greet the clients and engage in appropriate conversations. No exchange of money, services or romantic relationships is allowed. Be Courteous: clients may have social, physical, substance abuse, and/or mental disorders. Because of this, your demeanor, tone, volume, and sarcasm can be offensive or unnerving.
- Maintain all required paperwork documentation required to include daily logs, EMS logs, police logs, and client sign in and out sheets. Check emails and calls daily
- Notify direct supervisor and/or or appropriate staff when situations require follow-up interventions including maintenance needs
- Reports serious, adverse incidents to direct supervisor and completes required documentation. Review cameras as needed for reports.
- No weapons or using physical force or restraint unless you are defending yourself, another individual, or client property.
- Collaborate with all operational areas to enhance services
- Attends required meetings and trainings and functions as part of a team and provides suggestions for improved effectiveness
- Performs other related duties for Transitions as required to include the flexibility to work nights and/or weekends
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred Degree in a field related to Human Services
- Outlook Email and Microsoft Word
- Ability to express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to think independently and to make independent decisions
- Ability to establish rapport with the program’s clients
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively offering quality customer service
- Ability to problem solve utilizing critical thinking skills
- Flexible schedule for nights and weekend as needed
