Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process retail sales transactions and handle cash register operations
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and offering product recommendations
- Conduct product demos to showcase features and benefits, encouraging upselling opportunities to enhance sales
- Maintain the cash drawer by handling cash, credit card payments, and balancing registers at shift end
- Assist with stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and merchandising displays to ensure an attractive store presentation
- Support inventory management through stock replenishment and participating in periodic stock counts
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures in a retail environment
- Supervising experience or leadership skills to guide team members during busy shifts
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions, discounts, and returns
- Strong communication skills for engaging customers effectively and providing clear product information
- Experience with product demos, upselling techniques, and merchandising strategies
- Knowledge of retail store product lines, including grocery or general merchandise experience preferred
- Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer needs effectively
