,Position Summary:
The Activities Assistant provides assistance in organizing and facilitating individual and group activities for residents at Lourdes Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Part time - 24 hours/week, 6 hour days/4 days a week, weekends to be determined with Manager
Hours - 10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 3 days and one day 12 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Pay: $15 per hour and is eligible for the State of Michigan direct care worker pay of $.85 per hour.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Activities Coordinator in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing the activity program.
- Assist with the planning and decoration of resident events.
- Assist with the preparations for off campus outings and accompany residents on off campus outings as required.
- Provide one on one activity as needed and related to their interests.
- Monitor residents for change in condition and report observations to the activities coordinator
- Document daily activity attendance of each resident.
- Maintain knowledge of resident diets and special needs for events and activities.
- Protect resident’s rights and dignity.
- Comply with the State and Federal safety regulations and policies.
- Support Lourdes Senior Community’s mission and relate this information to residents and staff.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Activities Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Experience working with older adult population
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle resident based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Must be able to move throughout the work day
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel and support agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility which include a medical examination.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, and elderly residents.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50lbs.
