Duties
- Safely operate flatbed trucks equipped with manual transmissions, ensuring adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
- Drive route schedules efficiently, managing delivery timelines while maintaining safety standards on the road.
- Transport various types of freight, including refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers, depending on the assignment.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Communicate with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Experience
- Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with flatbed trailers or similar commercial vehicles.
- Familiarity with operating manual transmission trucks and specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving load & unload procedures and route driving across urban or rural areas.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to freight transportation, including securing loads on flatbeds or tanker trailers.
- Ability to handle various types of freight safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to flatbed, tanker, or refrigerated trailer operation preferred.
- Experience working with freight that requires special handling or equipment such as roll-off trucks or refrigerated units is a plus.
