Ride Goat operates a private e-scooter fleet for a corporate campus in north St. Petersburg, and we're looking to add a reliable, hands-on Fleet Operations Manager to our small part-time team.
This isn't a super technical job — but it rewards people who actually show up, follow through, and care about doing it right. Scooters that aren't rebalanced, charged, or kept clean become a problem fast, so dependability is the single most important thing we're hiring for. If you're handy enough to tinker, you can almost certainly do this job.
You'll be working alongside a few other part-time operators, with a clear path to take on more responsibility for someone who proves they can run the day-to-day without being chased.
HOW THE SCHEDULE WORKS
This is a flexible, in-and-out role rather than a fixed shift:
- On-site at minimum 2 times per day, up to 3 times — typically split across early morning, midday, and/or late night.
- Each visit is short and focused (battery swaps, repositioning scooters, quick fleet check).
- Working another job at the same time is totally fine, as long as you can be on-site to handle battery swaps and rebalance the scooters during the day.
- Some work can be done remotely / off-site — for example, charging batteries at home, or doing repairs on parts that can be taken with you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Rebalance and relocate scooters to designated parking areas, keeping them organized and free of trash.
- Swap out the lowest-charged batteries each visit; charge them off-site and rotate them back into the fleet.
- Run quick mechanical checks on each scooter — throttle action, brake feel, basket condition, laptop bag attachment.
- Light upkeep: spray-painting baskets to cover rust, lubricating throttles, replacing zip-ties, and wiping vehicles down so they stay presentable.
- Use a few simple operations apps on a smartphone or tablet during shifts (we'll walk you through them).
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Reliable — shows up on time, every scheduled visit, without being reminded.
- Local — you live in or near north St. Petersburg, close to the campus (ideally the Gateway / 33716 area), so you can get on-site fast when the fleet needs attention. Quick response time is essential for this role.
- Reliable transportation — you have a dependable vehicle to make every scheduled visit on time and to move batteries and parts to and from the site.
- Flexible — can flex hours and days as the fleet's needs shift, and is open to trying new things as the operation evolves.
- A tinkerer — comfortable noticing small mechanical issues and handling basic fixes (zip-ties, lubricant, spray paint, hex keys, ratchet set — all provided). Specialty tools provided as needed.
- Self-directed — once trained, can run a visit on their own and use good judgment.
- Comfortable outdoors — Florida weather, walking the property, and dressing appropriately for the conditions.
- A smartphone capable of installing and running our shift and time-tracking apps. Bonus if you have an Android phone or Android tablet — pairs better with some of our equipment.
NICE TO HAVE
- Prior experience with scooter, bike, or other light-vehicle fleet operations.
- Mechanical hobbyist background (bikes, scooters, small engines, e-bikes, etc.).
- Familiarity with St. Petersburg / Pinellas County.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
- The work site is a smoke-free campus.
- Dress appropriately for outdoor work and Florida weather.
- Tools, supplies, and replacement parts are provided — including any specialty tools the role calls for.
