Role Overview
As a Process Architect (Technical Writer), you will lead the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of operational processes that support Oracle’s global data center facilities. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and compliance teams to develop clear, scalable, and auditable procedures that enable safe, reliable, and repeatable execution across hyperscale environments.
You will work directly with building management systems (BMS), power and cooling infrastructure, and automation platforms to ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and standards meet rigorous requirements for security, compliance, sustainability, and operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to scale operational excellence at enterprise level, where well-designed processes drive measurable reliability, risk reduction, and consistency across the global fleet.
May be done in partnership with business partner(s) or via guidance to business partner(s) for execution. Defines system specifications needed to roll out flexible business models. Responsible for understanding business objectives. Performs process or functional analysis to identify gaps compared to specifications, confers and/or drives issues with management for resolution, and ensures overall fulfillment of business specifications. Responsible for day-to-day engagement with business and/or process subject matter experts. Advises and consults with business teams prioritizing allocation of people resources, addressing project team problems ensuring that all team deliverables are met, and developing and presenting proposals of project plan and getting agreement from appropriate stakeholders. Understands and applies theories to policies and operating environment needed to effectively and efficiently complete assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document end-to-end operational processes for mission-critical data center operations across electrical, mechanical, environmental, security, and compliance domains.
- Translate complex technical and operational workflows into clear, accurate, and actionable documentation for a globally distributed operations workforce.
- Author and maintain high-quality SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, emergency response procedures, and engineering standards, ensuring consistency, usability, and technical accuracy.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with applicable industry standards and frameworks, including ITIL, ISO 27001 / 14001, ASHRAE, NFPA, and Uptime Institute Tier guidelines, as well as Oracle internal security and compliance requirements.
- Manage document lifecycle activities, including version control, change tracking, peer review coordination, and audit readiness, supporting internal and external compliance needs.
- Collaborate with automation, IT, and facilities engineering teams to integrate operational documentation into Oracle’s digital knowledge and workflow platforms.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps, incorporating operational feedback and incident learnings, and updating documentation to support safer, more reliable execution.
