American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Dual Diagnosis Psychiatric (Behavioral Health) position at a locked inpatient facility, requiring BLS and CPI/MAB/Secure certification with Cerner EMR experience preferred.

Inpatient behavioral health setting within an enclosed, locked psychiatric facility
-
Dual Diagnosis (Psych/Substance Use) unit serving adult patients ages 19–55 with co-occurring addiction and mental health diagnoses

18-bed unit with access to an adolescent psych unit and adult psych unit within the same facility
-
Day shift patient ratio: 1:6–8; Night shift patient ratio: 1:8–10

Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), 36 hours per week

EMR: Cerner; medication dispensing via Omnicell
-
Unit support includes Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), a unit clerk on days, charge nurse, phlebotomy services, and a Psych NP on days
-
Floating may be required to like psych units, including Adolescent Psych and Adult Psych
-
Weekend rotation required: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month

Block scheduling is not available

Holiday coverage required per policy: one major and one minor seasonal holiday

Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required

Current BLS certification required
-
CPI, MAB, or Secure (de-escalation) certification required prior to start

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

De-escalation skills required
-
Cerner EMR experience required for first-time travelers

Former permanent staff must have a 6-month gap before being considered for a travel position

Provide behavioral health nursing care to adult patients with dual diagnoses of mental health and substance use disorders

Restrained patients are a variable part of the caseload
-
Orientation for new hires or those with more than 1 year since last assignment includes 24 classroom hours and 36 hours on the unit

First-time travelers are welcome to apply with at least 2 years of experience and Cerner EMR experience

Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

RTO blackout periods apply for major holidays and select seasonal dates throughout the year; up to 7 days of time off may be approved outside of blackout dates
