Responsibilities
- Provide attentive supervision and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism, or other special needs during scheduled respite periods
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and dignity
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks tailored to individual dietary requirements while maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Utilize patient monitoring techniques such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to ensure safe mobility and transfer procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized space by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed at all times
Experience
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to provide tailored support
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and patient safety is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts is important for resident transfers
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, families, and healthcare professionals are essential for delivering comprehensive care
