Primary Objective of Position:
This position will handle the social / group segment for the Hyatt Place State College. Responsible for booking all social groups and/or meetings from start to finish, Assist the Director of Sales in the overall sales effort of the hotel to achieve optimal occupancy and use, maximizing revenue to meet/exceed hotel profit objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Book all social groups and meetings for the property.
- Proactive Selling – learning about the potential clients coming to the area and working hard to gain the business.
- Prospecting – solicit profitable new and repeat business from potential and existing accounts.
- Sales presentations – site inspections to local businesses and social groups.
- Event coordination – with both the clients and other departments.
- Follow up – on all groups and events that have taken place with a 48-hour period.
- Ensure guest satisfaction along with keeping with hotel profitability.
- Achieve group revenue goals given on a quarterly basis that are coinciding with the annual budget.
- Attend outside organizational meetings when requested.
- Answering phones; processing letters, proposals and contracts accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain filing, tracking system and other office procedures.
- Participate in sales blitzes.
- Attend inhouse meetings as needed.
- Keep the Director of Sales and General Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other Company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
- At all times, project a favorable image of our hotel to the public.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Assist with setup/teardown of meeting rooms as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
Experience: Two full years of employment within the hospitality industry.
Skills and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of Sales/Hospitality profession.
- Requires ability to make decisions and determine a course of action quickly.
- Must possess communication skills to negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel and clients.
- Must be able to work with and understand basic accounting and arithmetic functions.
- Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
- Must work well independently in a high-pressure environment.
Physical Job Requirements – for essential functions only:
- Limited lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying is required in order to move supplies - approximately 1% of essential job function.
- Limited bending and kneeling is required when arranging supplies or equipment – approximately 1% of essential job function.
- Walking, sitting and standing for long periods of time.
- Work environment: 70% of time is spent indoors. Some time is spent outdoors on sales calls, attending functions, and conducting blitzes. A valid Driver’s License is required.
- Must possess excellent oral communication skills.
- Written communication and administrative responsibilities require excellent reading and writing abilities 30% of the workday.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
