The Permits Specialist is responsible for securing and managing oversize and overweight (OS/OW) permits across multiple state and local jurisdictions. This role serves as a critical operational partner to drivers, dispatch, and internal teams by ensuring every load complies with applicable permitting, routing, and regulatory requirements prior to movement.
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, regulatory awareness, and the ability to operate under time-sensitive conditions in a high-volume environment.
- Permits Management // Obtain oversize and overweight permits accurately and efficiently for all applicable loads
- Agency Coordination // Communicate directly with state and local DOT agencies to ensure regulatory compliance
- Driver Support // Assist drivers and internal stakeholders with permitting questions, requirements, and issue resolution
- Escort Coordination // Arrange pilot and escort vehicles when required by permit or route restrictions
- Load Review // Verify load dimensions, weights, axle configurations, and routing details prior to permit submission
- Problem Resolution // Troubleshoot permit rejections, routing challenges, and regulatory conflicts
- Record Maintenance // Maintain accurate permit documentation and related records in internal systems
- Technical Proficiency // Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate multiple DOT and permitting platforms

A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Operational Exposure // Experience supporting transportation, logistics, or compliance-driven workflows

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field, and experience in permitting, logistics operations, or transportation support.
- Permitting Experience // Familiarity with oversize and overweight permitting processes
- Routing Software // Experience using routing and mileage tools such as PC*MILER
- Regulatory Knowledge // Working knowledge of state-by-state permitting regulations
- Operations Background // Prior experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or heavy-haul operations
- Compensation // Salary determined based on experience and qualifications
- Schedule // Full-time, on-site position; Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
