Duties
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and grooming to ensure safe and stress-free procedures for pets and staff
- Support veterinary team members during surgeries, medical-surgical treatments, and critical care procedures
- Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with veterinary standards
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of distress or illness
- Help with pet care activities like animal husbandry, feeding, bathing, and ensuring proper living conditions
- Maintain aseptic techniques during medical procedures to prevent infection and ensure safety for animals and staff
- Utilize veterinary software to update patient records, schedule appointments, and assist with administrative support at the front desk
Experience
- Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, medical collection techniques, and laboratory procedures is advantageous
- Hands-on experience with dog handling, animal restraint, and pet grooming is desirable
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary critical care practices will help you excel in this role
- Experience working within USDA or DEA regulations related to veterinary medicine is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for record keeping and communication purposes is beneficial
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients about pet care are essential
