Savoury Kitchen is looking for an organized, professional and enthusiastic applicant to join our team as a catering event coordinator. We are a fun, busy, locally owned company, with a reputation for exceptional cuisine and top-notch customer service.
The catering coordinator works closely with the executive chef and the office staff to ensure all catered events are executed seamlessly and to the high standards for which Savoury Kitchen is known. The catering coordinator is responsible for all duties related to event sales and booking, including but not limited to:
Responsibilities
- Answering client inquiries (phone and email)
- Creating event proposals including cost estimates and invoices
- Creating banquet event orders (BEOs)
- Processing payments (as needed)
- Coordinating with outside vendors (florists, rental providers, planners, etc.)
- Supporting Savoury Kitchen's Green Business goals
- Scheduling site tours and networking with venue managers
- Working in tandem with office staff to achieve maximum efficiency
- Addressing client satisfaction issues
- Coordinating with local concierge, travel agents and destination managers
- Contributing to team meetings with relevant information and updates
- Maintaining constant communication with kitchen staff as to event details
- Promoting Savoury Kitchen with enthusiasm and gusto
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Experience in sales and/or customer service
- Food service industry experience preferred
- Experience hiring, training, scheduling, encouraging and managing employees
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization skills and ability to juggle tasks and meet different deadlines
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong computer skills - MS Office, Quickbooks, Excel, Converge (or similar POS)
- Schedule flexibility (see below)
- Applicants must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Event planning experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Food service experience preferred
Hours
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Office hours are M-F, 9am-5pm, during which time client inquiries must be answered. However, due to the seasonal nature of catering in a resort town, the schedule will flex to include some nights, weekends and holidays.
