Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, professional Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in maintaining and repairing diesel engines and related systems in various vehicles and equipment. Our fleet is made up of 2018 and newer equipment and is mostly in excellent condition, consisting of Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Wirtgen, Cat, and GMC. They are kept clean and nice. There is no asphalt paving equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on company owned fleet of equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct inspections to identify worn or damaged parts.
- Complete brake repairs, equipment repairs, and HVAC system maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair asphalt milling machines, tractor-trailers, dump trucks, street sweepers, Cat equipment, and light duty trucks.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed including labor and parts used on each job.
Qualifications
- The knowledge of and willingness to work safe and be an example of safe work practices.
- 10 or more years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Proficiency in diesel engine repair, air brake repair, and equipment maintenance.
-Working knowledge of scan tool and laptop diagnostics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-Must be willing to mentor and help grow less experienced mechanics/shop hands.
-Must own a comprehensive collection of hand tools and toolbox.
- A/C systems knowledge using Snap On recovery equipment is a plus.
-Experience with wheel and tire repair/removal and installation and balancing a plus.
-Welding experience a plus. MIG and stick.
-Field service repairs and willingness/ability to drive company truck a plus. There is potential to work out of a truck and drive it to/from work.
-$2 per hour extra for CDL B and $3 for CDL A.
Working Conditions
-Work is done outdoors under canopy. A full indoor shop is in the planning stages.
-Exposure to heat and cold.
-Jobs may necessitate work being done in the field using company service truck.
-8-10 hour days, Monday through Friday.
-Weekend on call rotation. 1 weekend approximately once a month. On call bonus pay plus overtime if called out. Call outs seldom happen.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
