Shifts open:
- 16 hrs. (Sat. & Sun 8a - 4p) Part time
- Overnight 30 hrs (Mon-Wed 11p-9a) Full time

- 40 hrs per week (Thurs- Mon 3 - 11pm) Full time

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides personalized care to individuals with medical and developmental needs in a medically frail home setting. This includes helping with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, while also monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
The pay rate range for this position is $20.00-$21.49 per hour depending on years of prior experience with NYS OPWDD programs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Prior experience assisting persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism
- Ability to support people with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, showering and feeding
- Ability to lift an adult using a two person lift and adaptive equipment
- Successfully complete the medication administration (AMAP) course and annual recertification
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to learn how to document services electronically
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide ongoing oversight to people living in the residence
- Implement Person Centered Residential Habilitation Plans
- Provide training and support for each person in accordance with the individual personalized program plan
- Have scheduling flexibility; may be required to work beyond the normal shift
- Drive agency vans and demonstrate safe driving practices
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move individuals who may have limited mobility.
Working Conditions:
- The DSP will work in a medically frail home environment, which may require providing care during evening, night, weekend, or holiday shifts.
- The work setting may involve exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, or hazardous materials, requiring adherence to health and safety protocols.
Additional Notes:
- Background checks, including criminal history, and other required screenings are necessary.
- May be required to drive individuals to appointments or assist in transportation needs.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with physical tasks, including positioning and transferring individuals.
