Position: Equipment Mechanic/Maintenance Technician
Location: Mobile, AL
Pay: $18/hour
Type: Full-time; Contract
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm
Clark Personnel is seeking an Equipment Mechanic/Maintenance Technician to support the repair, maintenance, and reliability of heavy equipment, small engines, and facility assets throughout the shipyard. This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on a variety of equipment while also performing general facility maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Job Description:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
-
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on shipyard equipment.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic system failures.

Maintain and repair equipment including:
-
Cranes
-
Telehandlers
-
Man lifts
-
Backhoes
-
Skid steers
-
Air compressors
-
Welding machines
-
Small engines and powered equipment
-
Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment remains safe and operational.

Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
Hydraulic, Electrical & Electronic Systems
-
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and related components.

Diagnose and repair electrical systems, wiring, sensors, switches, and controls.

Utilize diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify equipment malfunctions.

Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
Facility Maintenance

Perform general maintenance and repair of shipyard facilities and infrastructure.

Assist with shop maintenance, lighting repairs, equipment installations, and building upkeep.

Support maintenance of operational areas to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

Identify and proactively address maintenance issues before they impact operations.
Safety & Compliance

Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout the facility.

Maintain clean and organized work areas.
-
Report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and maintenance concerns promptly.

Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company and regulatory safety standards.
Qualifications:
-
Experience in equipment maintenance and repair.
-
Experience maintaining and repairing telehandlers, man lifts, air compressors, and welding machines.

Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, sensors, electronics, and electrical troubleshooting.

Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and industrial machinery.

Familiarity with small engine repair and maintenance.

Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical documents.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Dedication to safety practices and safe work habits.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a shipyard and industrial environment.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required.

Ability to climb, crawl, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces when needed.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
